My Story
I hold a BA. (2013) from Simon Fraser University and spent years in the non-profit and education sectors, leading transformational youth development programs. I continue to offer work around rites of passage, nature education, social-emotional skills, and experiential learning.
My background also includes advocacy and program work in support of refugees, immigrants, survivors of male violence, environmental justice, Indigenous sovereignty, and animal rights.
I have received training and certifications from the Somatic Institute for Women, the Deep Body Institute, and Cornell University.
In my herbal work, I have trained with Chanchal Cabrera, Seraphina Capranos, Jasmyn Clift, Storii Wild, and Pacific Rim College in their Dual-Diploma of Phytotherapy & Holistic Nutrition program.
I have completed two years of Grief Tending & Ritual apprenticing with Josea Crossley. and was a regular facilitator for Through the Dark Woods Grief Support Group. I am deeply influenced by the work of Joanna Macy, Francis Weller, Martin Prechtel, and Malidoma Some, the keeners of the Celtic lands, among others.
I have also received my coaching certification from Global Focus Coaching, an ICF accredited school.
Additionally, I am a Wilderness and Mental Health First Responder, ecstatic dance facilitator, yoga, meditation, and partner acrobatics teacher.
I am deeply committed to decolonizing myself, my work, and supporting others in doing the same. I currently reside as a guest on the ancestral lands of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation and and also steward a piece of off-grid land with a group of women on N'Quatqua land, also known as D’arcy, BC.
Though I was born here on Turtle Island, my ancestral roots trace back to Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and England, as far as I know.
Most of all though, I think, I am an artist, poet, dreamer, myth maker, dancer, and lover of the natural world.
My Approach
As a somatic coach, my focus is on helping you to reconnect with your wild, wise body, enhance awareness, and integrate physical sensations and emotions into the process of personal growth and healing.
The word “somatic” comes from the Greek word “soma,” meaning body, and in this context, it refers to the holistic experience of the body in relation to thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
Somatic coaching means guiding people through the sacred practice of body-centered awareness, movement, and sensory exploration to facilitate deep transformation and healing. This practice acknowledges that the body holds emotional and psychological experiences, often in the form of tension, pain, or unprocessed memories.
In session, I will work with you to release, reframe, and integrate these bodily experiences, supporting people in reconnecting with their innate wisdom, sense of safety, and self-expression.
Key Aspects of Somatic Coaching:
Mind-Body Connection – Helping clients tune into how their bodies respond to emotions and experiences.
Embodiment – Supporting clients in inhabiting their bodies fully, shifting from a disembodied or dissociated state to one of deep presence.
Trauma-Informed Practices – Addressing the body’s response to trauma, stress, and grief, and helping the body process these experiences.
Movement and Breath – Using specific practices to release tension, encourage relaxation, and re-establish vitality in the body.
Self-Compassion and Empowerment – Guiding clients in embracing their bodies with care, accepting their physical experiences, and developing personal agency in their healing journey.
With somatics, we’re not just addressing the mind or emotions - I will be supporting you in embracing the wisdom of your soft, animal body as an integral part of your healing and growth.
